On July 10, 1943 the Elgin Courier-News published a "Get Acquainted" edition.
The paper featured stories about local stores, firms, business and professional men and women, individuals such as clergymen, presidents of civic clubs, heads of lodges and other non-commercial organizations. Highlighting each story are cartoons of each person employed in a business or head of an organization. These cartoons were drawn from photos taken by the newspaper staff. More than 100 local stores, firms, and business and professional men and women participated.
If you would like a copy of a specific cartoon, please send the name of the person, the business or organization and the page number on which the cartoon appears, to Elgin Genealogical Society.
