Searching Property Records for Family Information
August 4 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm
Craig Pfannkuche will be presenting “Searching Property Records for Family Information”. County property records are a wonderful source of data for family history researchers. Illinois county records, with the exception of Cook County, are organized alphabetically and chronologically. Cook County property records are kept in a “Torrens” form. Property searches can indicate when a property is passed to other family members and can be a source of death or wedding records. This presentation will discuss the method one must use to search property records including Property Index Number (PIN), and how to use Sidwell maps.
Craig Pfannkuche has been President of Memory Trail Research, Inc. since 1993 and has been the Genealogical Archivist for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad Historical Society since 1984. He has served on the Board of Directors of the McHenry County Historical Society, is a member of the Illinois Genealogical Society, and is a current Board member of Chicago Genealogical Society. He has presented numerous workshops in history, historical & genealogical research, and archaeological techniques at both the local and national level.
