Searching Property Records for Family Information

August 4 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm

Craig Pfannkuche will be presenting Searching Property Records for Family Information. County property record are a wonderful source of data for family history researchers.   Illinois Counties, with the exception of Cook, are organized alphabetically and chronologically. Cook County property records are kept in a“Torrens” form. Property searches can indicate when a property is passed to other family members and can be a source of death records or a marriage.  This presentation will discuss the method which one must know in order to search property records including Property Index Number (PIN) and using Sidwell maps.

Craig Pfannkuche is President of Memory Trail Research, Inc. since 1993, and is the Genealogical Archivist for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad Historical Society since 1984.
