Laurel Mellien crossed a milestone in 2018 having visited 1,000 cemeteries located in the Midwest, and this program presents her best finds.  Her favorite sites include burial sites of U.S. Presidents and Native American chiefs. Special cemeteries are also included in the program for example, Showman’s Rest in Forest Park and the National Hobo Cemetery in Iowa. The stained-glass windows in Chicago’s community mausoleums and the mosaics inside of Bishop’s Mausoleum in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hillside are breathtaking. She will present an array of the most unique and amusing headstones encountered during her travels

Ms Mellien has made cemetery photos her passion for over 13 years. She has investigated all cemeteries in McHenry county as well as researching the people buried and the artwork chosen to decorate those headstones. She is a member of the Association of Gravestone studies.     Meeting Rm: Meadows A/B
